CHP Officers Rescue Injured Hawk, Kitten
CHP officers helped rescue an injured hawk they found in Dublin and an injured kitten found in Sunol.

DUBLIN, CA — Police officers are trained to have eyes like hawks, but not necessarily to care for hawks.
Still, that didn't stop two CHP officers from rescuing an injured hawk Wednesday morning at I-580 near Fallon Road. Photos posted to CHP show officers holding the hawk, and it posing on top of a patrol car.
Officers took the hawk to the Lindsay Wildlife Experience in Walnut Creek for veterinary care.

CHP officers are often called upon to help injured animals they see on the freeway. On Aug. 13, Officer Gunther, the same officer who helped rescue the hawk, spotted an injured kitten on northbound I-680 near SR-84. They helped get the kitten the medical care it needed.
If you see an injured animal, call your local animal control office, or call your local police department's non-emergency line.
