Coyote Or Mountain Lion Possibly Spotted In Dublin, Police Say

Police warn people should be cautious and keep an eye on pets and kids. Here's where the animal was spotted.

DUBLIN, CA — Police warned Dublin residents that a large animal — possibly a coyote or mountain lion — was spotted recently in the city.

The animal was reportedly wandering around the intersection of Tassajara and Fallon roads, police said Saturday. Police urged people to exercise caution and keep kids and pets inside.

Anyone who sees the animal should keep their distance and call police at 925-462-1212 to report the sighting. Call 911 to report an emergency.

Never try to feed or tame wild animals.

Make loud noises if followed by a coyote or throw rocks at them, if that fails, according to the California Department of Fish and Wildlife.

If you encounter a mountain lion, stay calm, face the lion and stand upright and give them a way to escape, according to the National Park Service. Do not run and try to appear intimidating by raising and slowly waving your arms, being loud, opening your jacket and throwing objects at the ground in front of the lion, like a warning shot.
