Dublin Teen Wins Philanthropy Award For Raising Over $30K

DUBLIN, CA — Dublin teen Rabia Badar was awarded the Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy Award from the Association of Fundraising Professionals Golden Gate Chapter in November.

Over the past year, Rabia has raised over $30,000 for families and communities facing financial and food insecurity. She was raised $25,000 to provide laptops for 120 low-income families, raised $4,200 for the Alameda County Community Food Bank (about 8,000 meals), and more than $1,300 for victims of the Los Angeles wildfires.

She has previously been awarded the Violet Richardson Award, sponsored by the Tri-Valley Soroptomist Club, and the Unsung Hero Award from California Assemblymember Alex Lee.

"Through these experiences, I learned that meaningful change doesn't always start with big organizations or large movements," she said in her acceptance speech. "Sometimes it's one person, a simple idea, and a community learning to help. It's about persistence, compassion, and taking action even when challenges feel overwhelming."
