DUBLIN, CA - Dublin teen Rabia Badar received the $1000 Violet Richardson Award for her work that has raised over $20,000 to support underserved communities. The award is sponsored by the Tri-Valley Soroptimist Club and given to young women making a difference through volunteer action.

Badar has run a number of volunteer fundraising initiatives. She founded a group called Junior Civitans, and asked members of the group how they would like to give back to the community.

The group has volunteered at senior homes, provided meals and supplies for the unhoused, blankets to refugees, cleaned up beaches and parks, and raised money for women facing domestic abuse.
