‘Advertise Here’—Some New Benches in Eagle Rock are Already Taken

The glinting, graffiti-resistant bus benches have begun appearing on Eagle Rock’s streets—and among the first local businesses to advertise on them are real estate agent Tracy King and .

Installation crews from Martin Outdoor Media, the Florida-based company that has been hired by the City of Los Angeles to replace some 6,000 benches, were at work Wednesday on the stretch of Colorado Boulevard west of Figueroa Street, according to MOM sales manager Mike Culver.

The crews are scheduled to install 38 benches by the end of the week along Colorado, Eagle Rock Boulevard, Yosemite Drive, York and Figueroa. Each bench costs about $1,000 to manufacture and install, according to Culver. Advertising rates range from $150 to $400 per month, depending on the location and  number of months for which the space is rented.
