As part of Occidental College's 125 anniversary celebration, the Mary Norton Clapp Library is hosting a reception and special viewing of a pictorial exhibition, "Building Occidental: The Road to Eagle Rock."
The exhibition will feature Oxy's historical relationship with land and local communities, from its origins in Boyle Heights to its final destination in Eagle Rock.
The event is especially intended for Oxy's neighbors in Eagle Rock, Highland Park and Boyle Heights, the three communities most closely tied to the institution's formative years.

The exhibition tells the story of the formative years of Oxy in an pictorial essay featuring rare historical photos of campus life from 1887 to 1914. Exhibit designer Eric Warren, president of the Eagle Rock Valley Historical Society and an Oxy alumnus, and fellow curators Dale Ann Stieber and Anne Mar of the Oxy Library's Special Collections, will be your guides to take you back in time to Oxy's first 25 years.

Directions: The exhibit is in the library's gallery, on the main floor, at the Academic Commons. Enter the campus from the main entrance at Alumni Avenue and Campus Road. There's free parking in the lot immediately to the right. The Mary Norton Clapp Library building is at the south end of the quad (Building 5 on the campus map).
