Planet Tobacco: Eagle Rock’s One-Stop Shop for Smokers
The store's business has benefited since Colorado Wine Company relocated next door nearly six months ago.
The first thing that hits you when you walk into Planet Tobacco is the cigar smoke, mingled with a robust whiff of leather. And depending on how many male customers happen to be lounging around smoking their “sticks,” you’ll either be assaulted by “smells as rank as a baboon’s underarm,” in the words of one Yelp reviewer, or completely spared the experience.
What’s indisputable about Eagle Rock’s only full fledged tobacco store, however, is that it’s a one-stop shop for all your smoking needs. From classy but moderately priced humidor-fresh Honduran and Dominican cigars ($30 a piece) to a wide range of imported cigarettes, pipe tobacco and accessories, the Colorado Boulevard store is nothing short of a smokers’ paradise.
Currently in its sixth year, Planet Tobacco is owned by three partners, one of whom gives his name only as Anto. A resident of one of the side streets near Hill Drive, he’s a friendly but guarded man who joined the business because he likes cigars even though he smokes them only occasionally.

“Our customers come from all over,” he says, adding that business has picked up considerably since the Colorado Wine Company relocated next door to Planet Tobacco last November.
The smoke shop also sells hookas and tobacco for them, but hooka smoking is not allowed. “I don’t like it,” says Anto. “That’s all.”
