East Palo Alto Stabbing Victim Dies; $10K Reward Offered

Police are searching for a witness that could help solve the case, and a group is offering a reward for information that leads to an arrest.

EAST PALO ALTO, CA — A man injured in a stabbing in East Palo Alto last month died from his injuries over the weekend, and investigators are turning to the public to help identify his killer, police announced Monday.

"On Saturday, March 2, 2024, victim Frank Finney succumbed to the injuries he sustained on February 8, and passed away at Standford Hospital," the department wrote Monday. "Our thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Finney's family and loved ones during this difficult time."

According to police, Finney and another man were stabbed by an unknown attacker near University Avenue and Bell Street. The other man suffered minor injuries and told police the suspect was a Hispanic man with a mustache and dark sweatshirt.

Investigators shared surveillance video showing a white SUV near the stabbing scene, and police believe the occupants may have seen something that could help the case.

"Thank you to all community members who have already been working with us to identify Mr. Finney's attacker, but as of today, we do not have a viable suspect identified," police said. "We need the occupant(s) of that vehicle to contact us as soon as possible with the vital information they may have."

The group Mothers Against Murder - Advocating for Victims of Violence is offering $10,000 to anyone who provides information in the next 90 days that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible.
