SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — San Mateo County partnered with the Red Cross to open five community resource centers to help residents weather the lingering impacts of a bomb cyclone that pummeled the region with hazardous winds and heavy rain.
According to PG&E, more than 45,000 customers remained without power on the Peninsula by mid-morning Monday as crews worked to address significant outages across the Bay Area. PG&E said more than 3,000 employees were working to repair 230 poles and 108 transformers damaged during the storm.
Power was successfully restored to more than 540,000 customers by late Sunday night, but more than 200,000 in the Bay Area were still without power at 10 a.m. Monday, PG&E said.
