8 Candidates Vie For Congressional Seat Serving Echo Park-Silver Lake
Former Los Angeles City Attorney Mike Feuer and state Sen. Anthony Portantino on Monday joined six other candidates vying for the seat.
LOS ANGELES, CA — Just days after Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Burbank) announced plans to run for Dianne Feinstein's senate seat, several candidates have entered the race to replace him in the 30th Congression District.
Former Los Angeles City Attorney Mike Feuer and state Sen. Anthony Portantino on Monday joined six other candidates already vying for the seat that service Hollywood, Echo Park, Silver Lake, West Hollywood, Burbank, Atwater Village, Elysian Valley, Fairfax, Glendale, Griffith Park, Los Feliz, Mid-Wilshire, Pasadena, and Shadow Hills. Feuer most recently ran an unsuccessful bid for mayor in Los Angeles.
Other Democrats in the running include Los Angeles Unified School District board member Nick Melvoin, Assemblywoman Laura Friedman, D-Glendale, and former "Boy Meets World" star Ben Savage., according to the Federal Election Commission

Feinstein, has not publicly announced whether she plans to leave the seat at the end of her current term. Still, along with Schiff, Orange County Rep. Katie Porter (D-Irvine) has announced plan to vie for her seat.
