All's Quiet At Echo Park Polling Places

Poll workers say even after-work voter turnout was smaller than expected.

The frantic sounds of West Sunset Boulevard could be heard inside the quiet Echo Park restaurant, which served as a voting polling place on Tuesday evening.

Inside Lot 1 Café, the poll workers patiently waited for voters.

“We’ve only had 75 voters,” said Poll Inspector Heidi Steudle. “We are expecting a low turn out.”

Steudle said she expected to see more voters after work, but by 6 p.m. not too many people had showed up.

“The parking is bad around here,” she said trying to explain the low turnout. “There’s very little parking.”
