School Starts With A Heat Wave
Baking heat will greet LAUSD students headed back to class Wednesday.

Thought you'd had enough this hot Labor Day weekend?
Well, this wilting weather will be with us for a while--certainly long enough to make many LAUSD schools' first day a hot one.
The National Weather Service warned in a "special weather statement" that triple digit temperatures will be common through the valleys and foothills through Thursday.

Echo Park and Silver Lake sit on the very edge of that. So you temperatures will be a few degrees cooler--the high 90s.
Temperatures peaked Tuesday at the Silver Lake weather station at 95 degrees. A low of 70 is expected Tuesday night.

Highs of 99 degrees are predicted for both Wednesday and Thursday under sunny skies. Clouds will help keep Friday's high around 85, the beginning of a cooling trend.
The Weather Service is advising folks to consider the hot weather and adjust activities accordingly, and seek shade or air conditioning during the hottest parts of the day.
