Water Main Break Leaves Hi-Fi Homes Without Water

Up to 60 homes may be without water since 3:46 a.m.

Since early Tuesday morning residents in the area around Douglass Street between Temple and Court have been wondering when they'd have running water again.

At about 3:46 a.m. a water main broke on Douglass, leaving up to 60 homes without water in this hot weather.

An LAFD unit responded quickly to the call and shut off the main.

What caused the delay--according to a Los Angeles Department of Water and Power official--is the required permissions from other utilities such as electric and cable to go in and do the repair.

As of just before 2 p.m. Tuesday, those permissions had been secured.

So residents should expect work to begin shortly.

The LADWP official wouldn't say when work would be completed. But she did say that repairs like this usually don't take more than a day.
