'Wheat Paste' Wall Promos 9/11 Show

Participating artists helped hang images they created on Sunday in the 1000 block of Manzanita Street in Silver Lake.

The artists worked quickly, brushing posters and fliers with wheatpaste. Then, they positioned them precisely on a block-long stretch of wall just off Sunset Boulevard on Manzanita Street.

They weren't tagging. They weren't postering.

They were working in a "gray zone," as they put it, building out a giant promo to an art show coming to Downtown LA Sept. 9, 10 and 11.

"The themes of the show are War & Peace, with special focus on looking back at 9/11 and projecting peaceful solutions. After 10 years of the Global War on Terror, where do we now stand as a nation? Is the world a safer place? Where does the Peace movement go from here?"

John Carr of YoPeace.org is curating the show, which is still accepting entries, according to its website.
