• County says Aguayo relied on outdated ordinance in challenge (thedesertreview.com) — Imperial County is pushing back in court against former HR director Rodolfo Aguayo’s bid to overturn his termination, arguing he relied on an outdated ordinance he once helped revise. County filings say he accepted months of paid leave and benefits, and a judge in El Centro will weigh those arguments at a Dec. 16 hearing.
   

• Imperial Valley healthcare provider announces nurse training program (kyma.com) — A major new nurse residency program will place recent graduates at El Centro Regional Medical Center and Pioneers Memorial Hospital, expanding care options for local patients. Imperial Valley Healthcare District leaders say the initiative is already hiring nurses and is designed to build a homegrown workforce that can keep up with the valley’s growth and future healthcare needs.
