• Community, Colleagues Honor Alhambra Officer Killed in Crash (mynewsla.com) — An Alhambra police officer killed in a November crash during a pursuit was honored Tuesday by hundreds of colleagues and community members, while officials shared more about his life of service. Authorities say the allegedly stolen SUV involved was driven by a 27-year-old man from El Monte, who has pleaded not guilty to murder and related charges. 
• South El Monte football are huge underdogs in Division 7-A state title game (sgvtribune.com) — South El Monte High’s football team is heading into Saturday’s CIF State Division 7-A championship game as big underdogs against defending champion Balboa of San Francisco. After a historic CIF Southern Section and regional title run, the Eagles’ stout defense will try to slow a powerhouse offense led by star running back Mekai Smith in Buena Park.
