BART Stopped As Man Coaxed from Tracks Causing Delays
Officials report that a man was taken into custody after he was reluctant to leave the south tracks of the Richmond BART station.

RICHMOND, CA- A man was taken into custody this morning after he had to be coaxed off of BART tracks near the Richmond station, according to the transit agency's police officials.
A call came in at 8:05 a.m. today about a person that was seen walking on tracks south of Richmond's station, BART police Lt. Aaron Ledford said.
While attempts were made to get the man off the tracks, trains had to be powered down temporarily and this caused from 20- to 25-minute delays in multiple directions on BART, Ledford said.

It was a train operator that eventually convinced the man to leave the tracks and board a train, Ledford said.
He was then transported back to the Richmond station and taken into custody. Ledford said BART police are considering a psychiatric evaluation for the man.
