Oh, hooray! This is the best El Cerrito news in quite a while, and not just because I'm looking forward to visiting Elevation 66 (which I am). It's such great news because, along with Nông Thôn next door, there's finally some private business investment coming into town. Hopefully this is a sign of even more to come, as business owners and investors recognize that El Cerrito demographics are changing and that high quality businesses can prosper here.
Kevin O'Brien is right, though; street parking in the Theater block isn't so awesome, and that's going to be a constraint on further business growth. There's plenty of parking at the nearby BART lot on weekends and at night, though ... and there is already precedent for BART allowing community uses of its parking lots during "off hours." (The Ashby BART flea market is one example.) There just needs to be some kind of agreement with BART that allows El Cerrito to post signs that direct drivers to park at BART.
