Bicycle Thief Busted, Police Say
A man who tried to steal a bicycle from an El Cerrito garage while the resident was in the garage was arrested by El Cerrito police shortly after he fled the premises, police reported Monday.

A San Pablo man who tried to snatch a bicyle from an El Cerrito garage Friday afternoon while the resident was in the garage was arrested shortly afterward, police said Monday.
About 5:24 p.m. Friday, May 4, police responded to a report of a burglary in progress in the 700 block of Colusa Avenue, according to an El Cerrito police news release. A resident had called police to report a man who entered the garage and took a bike while the garage door was open and the resident was in the garage, police said.
The resident yelled at the man, who then dropped the bicycle and fled on foot, according to the news release prepared by Detective Corp. Gilbert Tang.

The suspect was located by the responding officer several blocks away, arrested for investigation of burglary and taken to the county jail in Martinez, police said.
