Charges Lowered for Security Guard Who Admitted to Killing Two Wingstop Employees from Richmond
The security guard was originally charged with two counts of murder, the charges have been changed to voluntary manslaughter.

OAKLAND, CA- A gun-toting security guard pleaded guilty today to two counts of voluntary manslaughter for fatally shooting two employees at a Wingstop restaurant near Lake Merritt in Oakland three years ago.
Jamaine Gurley, 24, of Oakland, who played football at McClymonds High School in West Oakland before graduating in 2010, entered his pleas shortly before he was to stand trial in Alameda County Superior Court.
Suspect Arraigned in Fatal Wingstop Restaurant Shooting
Jamaine Gurley is charged with killing two employees at the Lake Park Avenue restaurant on Monday night.
The length of Gurley's state prison term will be determined by Judge Vernon Nakahara when he sentences him on June 3.
Gurley, who worked as a security guard at a school construction site and had stopped to get something to eat, initially was charged with two counts of murder for the shooting deaths of Richmond residents Kenneth Bradley, 22, and Jose Santa Maria, 26, at the Wingstop restaurant at 528 Lake Park Ave. at about 11:45 p.m. on July 1, 2013. But the charges later were reduced to manslaughter.
Oakland police said that after Gurley was arrested he admitted that he shot and killed Bradley and Santa Maria. In addition to the manslaughter charges, Gurley pleaded guilty to carrying a concealed weapon and carrying a loaded weapon.
