Club Mendelssohn Accepting Applications for New Scholarship

Entrants must live within the West Contra Costa Unified School District and must be in middle or high school (but not necessarily within the WCCUSD).

Club Mendelssohn is accepting applications for its new scholarship award.

The club was established in 1904 for the purpose of cultivating music and other arts in our community. To further this cause, the Club offers music scholarships each year. This year, it announces the creation of a new award, courtesy of Ted and the late Alice Mah, a top prize of $1000. Other prizes are also increased.

Entrants must live within the West Contra Costa Unified School District and must be in middle or high school (but not necessarily within the WCCUSD).

In order to receive these awards, the winners and the runners-up must agree to perform at the Club Mendelssohn Guest Day on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at 3 p.m. in Richmond.

Applications may be requested from the Scholarship Chairman (Carolyn Yannow, ph. 510-236-2258) or download the .pdf attachment here.

Deadline for the application receipt is Thursday, April 11, 2013.
Auditions will be Thursday, April 18, 2013 at 3:30 p.m. at Richmond First United Methodist Church, 201 Martina St. (at West Richmond Ave. in Point Richmond).

Instrumentalists and vocalists of middle school and high school age are encouraged to apply.  Music teachers, please encourage your students to apply.
