Comment: Cerrito Theater Becoming Community Hub; To Those Responsible, Thanks
Our Comment of the Week comes from Al Miller, who thanks those who brought the Cerrito Theater back to life, creating not just movie house but also a community space for events like the literary reading last Thursday night.

El Cerrito's restored art deco movie house, known both as , has become more than just a place to see contemporary and classic films while also enjoying food, beer and wine in a kind of large living-room atmosphere. It has also been playing host to community events, especially those connected with film. One took place Thursday night – a talk by British writer Geoff Dyer – and our article about the event, "British Writer Draws 100-plus to Cerrito Theater," attracted our "Comment of the Week" from reader Al Miller:
"This event, and the community response reflected by the number attending, is a wonderful demonstration of the valuable contribution the Rialto Cinemas™ Cerrito Theater is making to the cultural scene in El Cerrito. Events like this, the Rialto "Classics" and the various community events held at our theater also demonstrate, event after event, the overall value the Cerrito Theater contributes to our community.
"Thanks to the El Cerrito Redevelopment Agency for their foresight and courage in saving our theater and to Rialto Cinemas for making it such a central part of our community."
