El Cerrito will celebrate its annual Earth Day on Apr. 22 and is seeking volunteers for several tasks, an appreciation will follow at noon.

From The City of El Cerrito: The City of El Cerrito will host its annual Earth Day celebration on Saturday, April 22, 2017 with morning work parties across town starting at 9:00 a.m. followed by a volunteer appreciation luncheon at the El Cerrito Community Center from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The City of El Cerrito welcomes volunteers to:

  • Help tidy parks
  • Spruce up the landscaping around the library
  • Pick up litter to help reduce the amount of trash that ends up in our creeks, waterways and the Bay
  • Remove broom, an invasive and fire-prone plant, from the Hillside Nature Area

Like previous years, the City expects hundreds of volunteers to participate. Individuals, families and groups should register online or by email to participate in a work party. Advance registration is available online at www.el-cerrito.org/earthday or by email to earthday@el-cerrito.ca.us. Gloves, bags and tools are provided by the City to all volunteers who register.
