El Cerrito officials announced Sunday that the city's Swim Center will be closed Monday, Jan. 28, because of mechanical problems.
The city sent out a "newsflash" alert by email and posted a notice on the city website saying, "POOL CLOSED 01/28/2013 DUE TO MECHANICAL ISSUE. Please contact the Swim Center for updates - 510-559-7011 or email recreation@ci.el-cerrito.ca.us."

The city's Swim Center has two pools, a smaller one that has been closed for the season, and a larger one that developed mechanical problems, Jones said.
The city hopes to shift all the programs to the smaller pool and open it on Tuesday, he said.
