El Cerrito Wants Ideas and Opinions for New Library

Press Release from the City of El Cerrito

The City of El Cerrito is hoping community members will participate in a survey and community workshop  to share their thoughts about a new El Cerrito library.

The City of El Cerrito is hosting a Community Workshop on Thursday, October 24, 2013 at 7:00 pm at City Hall (10890 San Pablo Avenue, El Cerrito CA 94530) as part of updating the City’s Needs Assessment for a new library building. Kathy Page, the City’s Library Facility Planning consultant, will facilitate the discussion on library services and building design.

Additionally, the City has created an online survey at: www.el-cerrito.org/librarysurvey.  Paper copies of the survey are also available at the Library, City Hall, or can be mailed upon request.  The survey will be open through October 31, 2013.

“We want to hear from the public about what they would like to see in a new library facility in El Cerrito,” said Assistant City Manager, Karen Pinkos.

The City of El Cerrito’s Strategic Plan, adopted earlier this year,  includes “Develop and Rehabilitate Public Facilities as Community Focal Points” as a primary goal. Based on community input in support of a new library, the City is in the process of developing a plan for a new Library building, including identifying El Cerrito residents’ priorities for the facility and pursuing funding options.
