Magic Light Cast by Solar Eclipse
The most striking feature of the partial solar eclipse before dusk tonight, Sunday, may not have been the difficult-to-see passage of the moon's disk across the sun but the surreal play of light and shadow on the ground.
Several El Cerrito observers of the tonight, Sunday, were struck by the unusual light and cresent-shaped shadows cast on the ground. While large numbers of people gathered in spots around the world with telescopes and eye-protecting lenses to watch the alignment of sun and moon in the sky, the highlight for many casual observers seemed to be visible closer to home.
The eclipse reached its peak about 6:33 p.m. in El Cerrito. The Associated Press published eclipse photos from other places around the world.
