New Library Plans Finalized After 10-Year Deliberation

The Korematsu Middle School campus will be the temporary site, and a $30M bond will need to pass to make it happen.

EL CERRITO -- A new city library has finally been approved, after 10 years of discussions, according to the Contra Costa Times.

The Korematsu Middle School campus will be the temporary site until the plan for construction of a 21,000-square-foot library building, with community activity center, and 90-space parking lot is completed by the end of 2019.

Funding for the plan was reportedly estimated at $30 million, will depend on passing a construction bond measure planned for the November ballot.
