Tiffany Zhang Wins 2nd El Cerrito School Spelling Bee
The Madera Elementary School 5th grader won by spelling the words "category" and "certificate."
EL CERRITO, CA — An El Cerrito fifth grader is celebrating her second spelling bee title.
Tiffany Zhang emerged the winner form an intensely competitive field of 20 students from third to sixth grades to win the Madera Elementary School Spelling Bee.
The competition went 25 rounds.

Zhang won by spelling the words “category” and “certificate.”
Fourth grader Siddha Hotho took second place, and Adrian Santiago, a sixth grader, took third.

Zhang will compete at the Regional Qualifier Test with a chance to advance to the 2022 SNSB Region Two Final Local Bee.
Should she advance from there, the Scripps National Spelling Bee in National Harbor, Maryland, would be next.
Retired teacher Eric Danysh served as the event’s pronouncer, continuing a Madera Spelling Bee role he’s held for 10 years.
