What Do You Think Of The Plans For A Senior Housing Complex Next To City Hall?
Eden Housing officials are holding a public workshop tonight on their proposal for a 63-unit senior apartment complex
City officials and a company that specializes in low-income housing are holding a community workshop tonight to discuss plans to build a 63-unit affordable senior housing complex next to City Hall.
The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall, 10890 San Pablo Ave.
In addition to the development plans, officials from Eden Housing Inc. want to hear the community's thoughts on preserving the former Contra Costa Florist building that sits on the 40,000-square-foot site.
The current plans call for 63 units of affordable apartments for seniors as well as a 1,156-square-foot retail/cafe space and a 2,710 public plaza between the new building and city offices.
There would also be a 1,906-square-foot community medical clinic operated by Samuel Merritt University.
They would replace the old, closed warehouse now on the property.
Eden Housing and the city are working as partners on this development.
A draft Environmental Impact Report was published on August 26. Plans continue to move forward through the El Cerrito Planning Commission.
