Car Crashes Into Restaurant on Laguna

No injuries reported; driver under influence, police say.

A car crashed into the restaurant on Laguna Blvd at about 7:30 Tuesday night, the reports.

No one was injured in the accident, said Deputy Fire Chief John Michelini.

Police arrested the driver of the silver Honda, a 75-year-old man, on suspicion of driving under the influence.

spokesperson Chris Trim said there was no indication that the car had been driving on the street and left the roadway. The accident likely began in the parking lot, he said.

A at , when a driver mistakenly stepped on the gas instead of the brake pedal, jumping the curb and smashing into the store. In that case, however, there were no reports that the driver was intoxicated.

Police are still investigating the exact cause of the crash. The driver has been issued a misdemeanor citation to appear in court.

Firefighters assessed the restaurant, Michelini said, and determined it was structurally sound aside from the damage to the glass storefront.
