Democrats Have Small Lead in Encinitas, Voter Registration Figures Show
The city was 35.2 percent Democrat, 34.1 percent Republican and 25.2 unaffiliated.
Encinitas has slightly more Democrats than Republicans, according to voter registration data recently released.
The county Registrar of Voters Office said there are 13,212 Democrats and 12,801 Republicans in Encinitas as of April 30.
With 37,498 registered voters, Encinitas has 9,451 declining to identify themselves by any party.

The next-biggest affiliation in Encinitas is the American Independent Party, with 1,154 members. Then comes the Green Party (338) and the Libertarian Party (285).
By percentage, the city is 35.2 percent Democrat, 34.1 percent Republican and 25.2 percent not listing a preference.

In 2010, the U.S. census counted 59,518 people in Encinitas, so 63 percent of the city population is eligible to vote.
The Encinitas Union School District has 43,982 registered voters. Of those, 14,305 are Democrat, 16,839 are Republican and 10,644 declined to list a party.
In the Cardiff School District there are 7,281 registered voters—and 2,718 are Democrat, 2,212 are Republican, and 1,914 unaffiliated.
