Go Green Donates Organic Lettuce for EUSD Schools

Students at Encinitas Union School District (EUSD) are about to receive a healthy serving of local, organic lettuce every time they purchase a school lunch.

To commemorate EUSD’s expanded daily Let’s Move! Salad Bar program at each of their nine elementary schools and to punctuate a growing partnership with the school district, Go Green Agriculture has committed to donating enough organic lettuce to stock all EUSD salad bars for the remaining school year.

“We are absolutely amazed by Go Green Agriculture’s generosity and completely impressed by the superior quality of lettuce they grow.” said Kevin LaPittus, Director of Child Nutrition Services. “This support is a testament to the company’s commitment to the community.”

The partnership is the first of many that EUSD hopes to secure with local growers as they move forward with their Farm to Fork efforts.  Pierre Sleiman, President of Go Green Agriculture said, “The school district is an important part of our community and shares our mission to support local agricultural sustainability.  We hope that this commitment will help encourage good eating habits that students can also share with their families.”

Go Green Agriculture is a family farm specializing in organic, hydroponically grown lettuce products under the Happy Living brand name. Go Green Agriculture is committed to sustainable growing practices which include creating strong local growing communities.

Go Green Agriculture is located at 495 Saxony Road in Encinitas, California. The Encinitas Union School District serves the City of Encinitas and the La Costa area of Carlsbad in North San Diego County.

Approximately 5,600 students, Kindergarten through 6th grade, are enrolled in the District’s nine schools.
