After 35 Days, the Gas Price Slide Ends at $4.16 in Encino and Tarzana

A 35-day streak of falling prices ended Tuesday when the average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose one-tenth of a cent to $4.181.

The average price decreased 18.6 cents during the streak, the longest since a 42-day streak that ended on Dec. 23, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

Despite the end of the streak, the average price is 2.1 cents less than a week ago, 16 cents lower than one month ago and 8.9 cents below what it was one year ago.
The Orange County average price fell today for the 36th consecutive day today, dropping four-tenths of a cent to $4.148, its lowest amount since Feb. 22.

The Orange County average price is 2.7 cents less than a week ago, 16.8 cents lower than one month ago and 10.1 cents below what it was one year ago. It has decreased 19.7 cents over the past 36 days, including three-tenths of a cent on Monday.
The declining pump prices stem from a steep decrease to the wholesale gasoline price, Marie Montgomery of the Automobile Club of Southern California told City News Service.
