Armenian Gang Targeted in FBI Raid
Federal agents swarmed an Encino home Wednesday seeking evidence of ties to the crime gang Armenian Power.
Federal Bureau of Investigation agents rushed into neighborhoods in Encino and Sherman Oaks Wednesday as part of a nationwide crackdown on a gang that is being charged with a wide range of violent crimes. Authorities arrested dozens of suspected members and associates of an Armenian gang called Armenian Power.
At least one warrant was served in Encino during “Operation Power Outage”, according to officials. Two witnesses said FBI raided the home at 16370 Meadow Ridge Road. Windows were broken and federal agents carried boxes and belongings out of the home, they said.
"So far today, 74 people have been arrested on charges of kidnapping, extortion, bank fraud, and narcotics trafficking," said United States Attorney Andre Birotte at a news conference held at the Glendale Police Department.
A 212-page federal indictment (see attached) accused members of Armenian Power for identity theft, white-collar fraud, and credit card skimming. The gang has also been involved in violent crimes including murder, attempted murder, kidnapping, extortion and other offenses. Officials say Armenian Power operated in Los Angeles, Orange County, Denver and Miami.
