Man Killed by Metrolink Train in Van Nuys

The man, who was in his early 40s, died at the scene.

A man in his early 40s was struck today by a Metrolink train in Van Nuys and died at the scene, authorities said.

Paramedics were sent to the 8100 block of Woodley Avenue shortly after 9 a.m., said Erik Scott of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Train number 110, on the Ventura to Los Angeles line, was approaching the Van Nuys station when it struck and killed the man, said Laura Magness of Metrolink.

No one was injured on the train, which was carrying about 60 passengers, she said. Arrangements were made to assist the passengers, and some delays were experienced by riders on trains 112 and 107.

Full service was restored within a couple of hours, Magness said. The circumstances of the death were under investigation. The man's name was withheld, pending notification of his relatives.
