CSU San Marcos Students Gear Up for a Month of Food, Fun, Awareness
March at CSU San Marcos' Campus Way Cafe is shaping up to be an exciting month for students

March at CSU San Marcos’ Campus Way Cafe is shaping up to be an exciting month for students, with a lineup of themed dining events that blend culture, tradition, and sustainability. From indulging in festive meals to participating in food waste awareness initiatives, students will have plenty of opportunities to engage with their campus community through food.
A Taste of New Orleans
On March 4, students can dive into the flavors of Mardi Gras with a shrimp boil and king cake, bringing the energy of the bayou straight to the cafe. For many, it's a chance to experience the vibrant tastes of Louisiana cuisine without leaving campus.

Shining a Light on Sustainability
The conversation around food waste takes center stage on March 10 with Weigh the Waste, an interactive initiative in partnership with the Sustainability Department. Students will get a first-hand look at how much food goes uneaten and learn small changes that can make a big impact.

Celebrating Pi (and Pie!)
March 14 is all about the numbers—and the flavors. Pi Day will feature an assortment of savory and sweet pies, offering students a fun (and delicious) way to mark 3.14.
Going Green for St. Patrick’s Day
Irish flavors take over on March 17 as students enjoy a traditional beef and cabbage meal, paired with festive desserts that celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.
Sweet and Spicy Surprises
Closing out the month on March 26, Opposites Attract will challenge students’ taste buds with a mix of sweet and spicy flavors from different cuisines. The event gives diners a chance to step outside their comfort zones and try unexpected combinations.
Throughout the month, Sous Chef Naitze Fajardo and Sous Chef Luz Perez will bring these events to life, crafting menus that offer students both comfort and adventure. Beyond just a meal, each event is designed to connect students to new cultures, flavors, and ideas—making dining at Campus Way Cafe an experience of its own.
