Escondido Trio Hailed for Disrupting Domestic Assault, Saving Victim's Life

Three Escondido residents received an award this week for saving the life of a domestic violence victim.

ESCONDIDO, CA - Escondido police officials bestowed special awards this week upon three deserving residents credited for saving a domestic violence victim's life.

The three men, who were not named in the Escondido announcement, were each given the Citizen Life Saving Award during Wednesday's Escondido City Council meeting. The trio teamed up to save the life of a domestic violence victim after he or she was struck in the head with a metal object, Escondido Police Lt. Justin Murphy said.

"They recognized the threat to the victim's life, called 911, confronted the suspect disrupting the assault and ultimately restrained him until police arrived despite the danger to themselves," officials shared in a post on the Escondido Police Department Facebook page.
