Motorcyclist Killed in Collision With Van Near Escondido
A 26-year-old San Diego man was killed when a van driver pulled out of a driveway and collided with the motorcycle.
ESCONDIDO, CA — A 26-year-old San Diego man was killed when a van driver pulled out of a driveway and collided with the motorcycle he was driving in an unincorporated area near Escondido, the California Highway Patrol said Sunday.
At 2:16 p.m. Saturday, the victim was riding a black Honda CBR motorcycle in the northbound lane of Mary Lane, north of Orangewood Drive, according to CHP Officer Hunter Gerber. At the same time, a 22-year-old man from Fallbrook was driving a white Nissan NV 1500 van that was pulling out of a private driveway onto Mary Lane when it collided with the motorcycle.
The CHP and fire department paramedics responded to the scene. The rider of the Honda was taken to a hospital, where he later died of his injuries.

Alcohol was not suspected to have contributed to the cause of the collision, Gerber said.
