Nurse Nominated For Outstanding Nurse by CA Assisted Living Assn
Teresa Ingram, LVN. works at Westmont Town Court in Escondido

Every year the California Assisted Living Association (CALA) recognizes excellence within the senior living industry by asking Assisted Living operators to nominate those who exceed expectations and serve as a role model to others. After CALA receives lots of recommendations from hundreds of Assisted Living companies, they whittle the group down to a handful of nominees. One of this year’s finalists is Teresa Ingram, LVN, Resident Services Director, at Westmont Town Court in Escondido, who is nominated for Outstanding Community Nurse for the 2021 CALA Excellence in Service Awards.
According to Karen Davis, Executive Director, Westmont Town Court, “This year’s nomination for Outstanding Community Nurse means so much more because of the pandemic. During the most difficult time, Teresa chose to move into the community for 10 days to live with our residents and by working non-stop on patient care and medication management. She single-handedly kept our Covid cases down and lowered the overall impact of the disease in our community. I cannot help but think back to Florence Nightingale, the founder of nursing, and how she fought to keep infections in check during WWI. I feel that way about Teresa’s actions, even small things such as opening windows to allow fresh air into a room or by making sure that every surface is routinely disinfected.”
"It is an honor to be nominated by CALA, said Ingram. “During that time (with Covid lockdown protocols) my only concern was the safety of the residents, my family, staff, and their families." Ingram has worked in the same community for five years is responsible for the health and well-being of the residents in assisted living and memory care area called Compass Rose.

“I nominated Teresa because she is so dedicated to her work, the residents, and her fellow staff,” said Davis. “She remembers everything about each resident which gives them such comfort and much peace of mind. And, she is truly a mentor to all staff as she leads by example. We couldn’t be happier for her. And the community is very proud of her being recognized amongst her peers as a finalist.”
