• Homemade bomb, gun and narcotics found inside Eureka man's Jeep during traffic stop (krcrtv.com) — Eureka residents should know that deputies say a traffic stop on Broadway uncovered a homemade explosive device, drugs, and a firearm in a local man’s Jeep. The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office reports the device was rendered safe at the scene and the driver was arrested on multiple explosives, narcotics, and weapons charges.
   

• HCOG seeks public input on 20 year transportation plan (krcrtv.com) — Humboldt County’s transportation planners, based in Eureka, are asking residents to weigh in now on a 20‑year Regional Transportation Plan that will guide funding for roads, transit, biking, and walking projects. Environmental groups want stronger climate language, while HCOG insists its climate goals remain aggressive. Public comments are open through the end of this month before final board consideration in February.
   

• Loggers, Panthers continue to build in weekend tournament action (humboldtsports.com) — Eureka High’s girls basketball team continued a strong start, winning the consolation game at the Windsor tournament behind hot shooting and aggressive defense. McKinleyville’s Panthers also impressed with a runner-up finish in Healdsburg, as both North Coast squads used tough tournament play to sharpen up before league action in the new year.
