• Popular Japanese Supermarket Opens On Peninsula (patch.com) — Foster City residents now have a new destination for Japanese groceries and hot foods with the opening of Osaka Marketplace at Edgewater Place Shopping Center. The 35,000-square-foot store features imported Japanese seafood, wagyu beef, sake, beauty products, and a hot buffet, highlighted by a grand opening that included Taiko drumming and remarks from local leaders.
   

• Backyard Homes Creep Into Peninsula Apartment Complexes (hoodline.com) — New backyard-style rental homes are planned for Prometheus-managed apartment complexes in Foster City starting in 2026, using factory-built units from Redwood City-based Samara. The small standalone homes will be added to underused corners of existing properties, enabled by recent state ADU law changes. Officials and owners will be watching permitting, infrastructure needs, and whether renters pay a premium for these units.
