The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, opens a new window (CMS), Administration for Community Living, opens a new window (ACL), California Department of Aging, opens a new window (CDA), and Area Agency on Aging in San Mateo County, opens a new window (AAA) and Self-Help for the Elderly administer the HICAP program in San Mateo County.

Medicare Open Enrollment Period
The Medicare Open Enrollment Period (MOEP) is a designated timeframe for individuals enrolled in Medicare to review their current health coverage - Medicare Advantage Plans (Part C) and Prescription Drug (Part D) for the upcoming year.
During this timeframe, Medicare beneficiaries can change their current Part C and/or Part D coverage by enrolling in a new plan. This timeframe also allows beneficiaries without current coverage outside of Original Medicare (Part A and/or B) to enroll in a stand-alone prescription drug plan or Medicare Advantage plan.
