Tennis Expo Coming to Foster City July 7

Always wanted to try tennis? Beginners can learn from the experts at a City-sponsored expo, coming up soon at Edgewater Park.

There's a lot of reasons tennis enthusiasts love the sport - it can be fun, competitive, and a good workout, especially during the warm-weather months of spring and summer.

If you've ever been curious to try tennis, people of all ages are welcome to get a free lesson and give the sport a try at Foster City's Tennis Expo, coming to on Saturday, July 7.

The Foster City Tennis Club, along with the City's , will co-host the expo.

From 10 a.m. to noon, kids 10 years and younger and invited along with their parents to learn more about tennis and watch demonstrations with Christine Ferry of the U.S. Tennis Association (USTA) and members of the Foster City Tennis Club. Kids will have the chance to learn about tennis, sportsmanship and rules using children's racquets, nets and balls provided by the USTA.

From noon to 2 p.m., beginning-level adult players are invited to try the sport with members of the USTA and the Foster City Tennis Club, along with Reynaldo Zalles of , located in Edgewater Place. Adult participants will learn about rules, equipment, and playing techniques.

When you work up an appetite, the Tennis Club will provide complimentary bottled water, bananas and cookies for event participants.

Already a decent tennis player? Then mark your calendars for a Fun Day of Tennis, to be hosted by the Tennis Club on the 4th of July.
