Fountain Valley Student Receives Disney Scholarship

Kathy Tran, a senior at Los Amigos High School, was awarded a $7,500 grant from the Disneyland Resort Scholarship.

A Fountain Valley high school senior was one of 10 Orange County students to receive a scholarship this month from the Disneyland Resort Scholarship Program.

Los Amigos High School student Kathy Tran, 17, was surprised with the scholarship on April 15, according to Alan Trudell, spokesman for the Garden Grove Unified School District. The scholarship program selects the students based on their track record of volunteerism, community leadership and academic success.

Trudell said Tran has completed 419 hours of community service during her high school career, helped plan an event for Cesar Chavez Day at Los Amigos and worked with the Orange County Human Relations Commission, National Honors Society, California Scholarship Foundation and the Girl Scouts of America.
