Get Rid of E-Waste Saturday

Drop-off unwanted electronics at the Fountain Valley Recreation Center & Sports Park Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

If old, broken or unwanted electronics like cell phones, computers or TVs are cluttering your home, office or garage gather them up and dump them for free this weekend.

On Saturday, July 13, the Fountain Valley Community Foundation will host the electronic waste collection drive from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Fountain Valley Recreation Center & Sports Park.

The goal of the e-waste event is to help divert waste from landfills. According to a city memo, toxic substances like lead, cadmium, and mercury that are commonly used in these products can contaminate the land, water and air.

Acceptable e-waste items include: televisions, PC systems, laptops, monitors, home entertainment systems, cell phones, desktop copiers, printers, fax machines, keyboards, DVD and VCR players, audio devices, and loose wires in working condition or not.
