Wheelchair-Bound Man Shot at Anaheim Impromptu Car Show

Several shots were fired and the victim, in his 20s, were among several hundred car enthusiasts. He was the only one hit.

A man who uses a wheelchair was hospitalized Thursday and expected to survive after suffering a gunshot wound at a gathering of car enthusiasts in Anaheim, police said.

The victim, described by a news videographer as being in his 20s, was struck by a single round at 10:05 p.m. Wednesday, said Anaheim police Sgt. R. Blackburn. He was struck in the head or neck, police said.

The victim was among several hundred people at an impromptu car show in the 1000 block of North Euclid Street, said Anaheim police Lt. Bob Dunn. Although there were reports of multiple shots fired, only the victim in the wheelchair was struck, he said.

The suspect was a man in his 20s wearing shorts and a blue hooded sweatshirt, Blackburn said.
