Canadian TV station Le Téléjournal — like many, many other TV stations — was covering the Super Bowl between Denver and Carolina and, naturally, threw up a graphic of the Broncos and Panthers.
There was just one problem:
That would be the Florida Panthers of the NHL, not the NFL’s Carolina Panthers, who are actually playing in the Super Bowl.
The NHL team took it in good spirits. Florida goalie Roberto Luongo tweeted, “More rushing yards Sunday: me or Payton?”
The network is owned by the Canadian Broadcasting Company, according to the Charlotte Observer, and they have a reporter on the ground in San Fransisco/Santa Clara covering the game.
The usually pithy Carolina Panthers’ Twitter account had yet to respond as of Wednesday morning.
