Glendora Resident Spots Bobcat Hunting in Backyard

A bobcat gave a Glendora resident a scare when the animal was found feasting on a rabbit in her backyard Wednesday evening.
The bobcat was spotted at around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday on the 800 block of Mountain Lane.
According to the resident, who asked to remain anonymous, the bobcat seemed unfazed by the attention.

“It also felt comfortable enough to hunt with me watching and caught one of the large bunnies that lives in our yard,” said the resident. who also snapped a photo of the bobcat. “People should know that it's not scared of people.”

It is common for the animals to trek down to residential areas during the summer months to cool off from the summer heat or to hunt for food.
While hikers and residents should take precaution when encountering wildlife, it is not impossible to share the foothills with them, say police.
Glendora police offers encountering their more wild neighbors, including securing trash, placing bins out as late as possible before pickup, and traveling in groups when hiking in the foothills.
