Glendora War Memorial Moves Closer to Construction
With most of the funds and materials donated from the community, construction can soon begin.

With $83,000 raised to build Glendora’s War Memorial, the city is in the final stages of preparation before construction begins.
About $25,000 in volunteer labor and material donations has also been collected.
According the City Manager Chris Jeffers, construction can begin as soon as May or June of this year.

While much of the donated material and labor has come at significantly discounted prices, the city labor contribution and ordering of construction material will cost the city $10,000.

Several years ago, local residents approached the city with the idea of honoring fallen soldiers from the Glendora community. The Glendora War Memorial Committee was soon created, including members of City Council and the Yellow Ribbon Committee.
“We have been working on [this memorial] for many years, “ said City Councilmember Judy Nelson during Tuesday’s City Council meeting. “People have been donating money and their time. It's been something that we’ve wanted to see, so I’m really pleased it is getting closer.”
