Make no mistake! “Grandma” is not to be taken lightly.

Really gaze at the movie’s title: there is a reason for ‘GRAND’ to be nucleic in “Grand-ma.”

The movie is Lily Tomlin’s first leading role in a film in 27 years. She portrays Elle, a grandmother, who must face her past in order to embrace life once again with open arms. It is a dramedy in a fusion of love and loss; fear and courage; empathy; compassion; and the power of family ties.

Written and directed by auteur Paul Weitz, the movie also stars Julia Garner as Elle’s granddaughter; Sam Elliott as her old flame; Marcia Gay Harden as her daughter.
